"Don Giovanni" de Giuseppe Gazzaniga (1743-1818)
2007, 27 and 29 September and 1 and 3 October in the Teatro Lope de Vega in Seville. Role: Pasquariello.
Giuseppe Gazzaniga wrote over 44 operas between 1768 and 1807, including this "Don Giovanni", which marked their biggest hit and was premiered in Venice on 5 February 1787, some eight months before that of Mozart. Gazzaniga is a master at his art as any other in the S. XVIII: knows how to build scenes, characterize the characters and effectively achieve the musical effect. All score dramatically testifies to the dramatic ability of the composer-musician. This is undoubtedly, after Mozart's, the most interesting S. XVIII opera about Don Juan.
